National Community Media Awards deadline postponed to 23 May 2008!
URGENT – ENTRY DEADLINE EXTENDED TO FRIDAY 23RD MAY “I still believe that, if your aim is to change the world, journalism is a more immediate short-term weapon” - playwright Tom Stoppard. In order to allow all radio stations the opportunity of participating, the deadline has been extended. SABC News has created a platform within which South African community journalists, in television, radio and multimedia, can be honoured for their tireless work in making South Africans aware of issues and events, which directly impact on them. Whilst SABC News is the primary conduit of news on a national level, there are many dedicated community journalists who are not recognized or celebrated for their significant contribution. To rectify this, SABC News has created the Community Media Awards. In years to come, SABC News is committed to grow the stature and recognition of the Community Media Awards to the level of the SA Music Awards (SAMA’s) and the advertising industry’s Loeries. Entries are invited from community journalists in television, radio, and Internet media. Judges will be drawn from SABC News, Media Diversity and Development Agency (MDDA) and National Community Radio Forum (NCRF). All finalists will be invited to attend the Awards Ceremony.
