Radio Teemaneng Stereo (RTS) started with its operation from the corner of Chapel Streets in Kimberley;s CBD and moved to 31 Scanlan street in 1997 with the assistance of the Department of Education, SpoRTS, Arts and Culture.

Minister of Communications and Northern Cape Premier at RTS brand launch

The Minister of Communications, Dr Ivy Matsepe-Casaburi, officialy launched RTS when it went on air and was also the guest at the launch of the new logo that was held at the Flamingo Casino on the 02 March, 2008. The world association of Community Radio Broadcasters has recently selected the station as part of 10 others on the continent to attend a training workshop in Cape Town. Chairperson of the board, Mr Mzi Makapela explained that the reasons for the launch of the new logo, included c raeting a new image for the station, becoming visible to the communities it serves, becoming financilly stable and more productive through funding, partnerships, advertisements and new products, set one pricing structure and fullfill staffing capacity. According to Mr Makapela Radio Teemaneng will always be the radio station for the community. The mission and obejctive of Radio Teemaneng now RTS will however remain the same- to inform, deucate and entertain through effective and effient broadcasting.
